A project of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Committee in partnership with the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. which aimed at building the capacities and potentials of the candidates and to provide them with purposeful activities that would give meaning to their bid as candidates vying for the most coveted title Miss Iloilo Dinagyang.

To nurture the development potentials and optimize opportunities for pageant hopefuls towards a determined and confidential personality. To increase awareness of the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang candidates in the project areas of the City government on environment concern, education and health care.

This new branding is an indicative achievement declared by the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines (ATOP) as the Best Tourism Event in the Philippines for four consecutive years. Thus, the new distinction has been given as “Dinagyang Festival in the Hall of Fame.”

This is a week-long celebration showcasing Ilonggo culture in honor of Senor Santo Nino, the Child Jesus.

After a long process of ideation, it has been agreed to give more importance the essence of the upcoming festival – to make a cultural menagerie and exhibitory occasion, to get global attention, to live up to being the best tourism event in the hall of fame, to maintain its religiosity, to reach out for the marginalized and less privileged sectors, to continue as an economic driver of the City and to attain financial sustainability.

“2010 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival” will be the official name of forthcoming event.

As they closely conceptualized the ideology, the year precedes the title of the festival to distinctly standardize and differentiate its uniqueness from the other festivities outside Western Visayas.

The tagline for “2010 Iloilo Dinagyang Festival” is “In the Hall of Fame.” It exemplifies and draws the festival as a model example of a premier and highly acclaimed world-class festival.

During the Christmas season, the artistry of ‘Pototanons’ is exhibited through the unique and grand display of Christmas lights and decors. The town’s plaza and municipal hall is garbed into glittering and colorful lights as local craftsmanship are depicted in the style, arrangement, and designs of several lights, ornaments and displays.

Along with this sparkling and colorful custom, the focus of this event is to portray the message of Christmas, that is to celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ themed in the festival itself as the ” True Light that Enlightens the World”.

As this yearly tradition draws many people from different areas of Western Visayas particularly Iloilo, it also helps to foster the socio-cultural and economic development of Pototan.
Started in 1997, IWAG Festival is not just about the dazzling lights and displays in the town plaza, it is also a night of cultural shows, food fair and the yearly tradition of the town people to light up their own homes with beautiful Christmas lights.

Pototan’s IWAG Festival is expected to continue sparkling this coming December 16 that would usually lasts until the 1st of January the next year.

People from different parts of the city and province may experience the holiday feeling as the whole university transforms into a glittering landscape of Christmas lights and decors.

This annual Christmas tradition is not complete without the nightly musical performance featuring amateur singing aspirants of all ages which added meaning to the Chritmas feeling.

During the opening night, a grand fireworks display followed by the switching on of thousands of colorful festive lights draws many spectators as it marks the month-long celebration.
Clusters of food stalls are also available with varieties from inasal to pizzas and fruit shakes.

This annual tradition is set to open this coming Dec. 4, 2009 following the theme, “Hatag Gugma sa Paskwa ‘09” made possible through the CPU Alumni Association Inc.
